What should I look for in a sunscreen for sensitive skin? For sensitive skin, dermatologists often recommended looking for mineral sunscreens that contain either zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. All Anthelios sunscreens are tested on sensitive skin and formulated for optimal skin tolerance.

Mineral sunscreens contain mineral ingredients like zinc oxide & titanium dioxide that sit on the top layer of skin and reflect and scatter UV rays. Chemical sunscreens contain organic compounds like octocrylene & avobenzone that absorb UV rays on the skin.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to chemical vs mineral sunscreens? Mineral sunscreens work as soon as you apply onto skin, but because they sit directly on the skin may rub or sweat off more easily than chemical sunscreens that take at least 15min to properly absorb, meaning skin may not be immediately protected.
